Please view the City Calendar for Holiday Collection Schedules. If you do not know which neighborhood you live in, please use the collection schedule map to determine your pickup day. The following items will NOT be collected: AshesĪll garbage is to be placed at the curb on your scheduled day by 7:00 AM (Labor Day through Memorial Day) and by 6:00 AM (Memorial Day through Labor Day). Residents can buy large garbage stickers individually, or as many as needed.

Small blue garbage bags remain in stock and at their normal price of $6.25 for a 5-pack. The stickers will remain the same price as the large blue bags, $2 each, as the large blue bags have been sold in a 5-pack for the price of $10 total or $2 per bag. Residents can call the Mayor’s Office at 570.208.4158 with any questions about the sticker program. Stickers should be visible to DPW crews, therefore they should face the street. Stickers should be affixed to residents’ garbage bags, which should not exceed 30 pounds in weight. To alleviate this issue, the City began selling garbage stickers, in 2022, in place of the large bags. Stickers are available for purchase at the same locations that sell blue bags. Currently, the City has a sufficient supply of small blue garbage bags, therefore the sale and use of those small blue bags will continue, and do not require a sticker. Residents can still use large blue garbage bags which they have previously purchased, as DPW will continue to pick up these bags.

The City of Wilkes-Barre “blue” garbage bag system was impacted by increasing production shortages and distribution issues. On February 9, 2023 the Wilkes-Barre City Council officially adopted an ordinance establishing a garbage sticker system to replace the use of large blue garbage bags.
